Become A Volunteer

Our volunteer program is designed to build a partnership with the community and increase public involvement in the fight to end the cycle of domestic violence. 

A variety of essential services are provided by S.A.F.E. House volunteers.  We value the contributions made by volunteers and recognize that volunteers are vital to our daily operations.

The following are volunteer opportunities for community supporters:

  • Resident Advocate Volunteer: The Resident Advocate Volunteer Provides Services to residents and non-residents which include, but are not limited to, crisis intervention, transportation, informal counseling, support information about domestic violence, liaison with social services, medical and legal entities.  Supervise resident activities and services. (Assignment opportunities available M-Sun on all three shifts).
  • FIT (Families in Transition) Aide: The FIT Aide Volunteer is responsible for working with both children and their parents in structured and casual group settings to model, coach, guide, and teach positive family interactions.(Assignment opportunities available M-F 11am-3pm and 6pm-8pm).
  • Prep Cook Volunteer: The Prep Cook Volunteer is responsible for the Food Service functions including; assisting with the planning of menus, food inventory management and ordering, preparation of nutritious meals and snacks and ensuring that all regulations related to health, nutrition and sanitation are adhered to.  (Assignment opportunities available M-Sun 5:30am-1pm & 3pm-7:30pm).
  • Facilities Assistant Volunteer: The Facilities Assistant Volunteer is responsible for pick-up of donations and other items as directed.  (Assignment opportunities available Th 8am-4pm)
  • Fundraising: The Fundraising Volunteer is responsible for assisting in specific fundraising campaigns and/or events.  The duties include, but are not limited to; donor communication (via mail or telephone), solicitation of donations, assisting in all aspects of fundraising events. (Assignment opportunities available as needed).
Prospective volunteers will go through an application and interviewing process.  Once selected, the volunteer will be provided with comprehensive orientation and training.  All volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, be able to pass a criminal background check and TB test, and be willing to give a commitment of at least 12 consecutive months of service.
