Children's Program
Advocating for Children
Many of our shelter residents are children who have witnessed intimate partner domestic violence. We have on-going curriculum to help encourage parent-child engagement, educational activities, healthy activities, and just plain fun activities!
Parent-Child Engagement
Our Children's Advocacy Coordinator creates fun, healthy, and educational activities that help our residents learn to engage with their children. Examples of some of our favorite activities are:
-
Kickball
-
Basketball
-
Trips to the park
-
Growing plants
-
Arts and crafts projects
-
Yoga
-
Running
-
Movie night
-
Festivals
Parent Education
Our Children's Advocacy team works with parents to help them learn how to engage with their children after the leave they shelter.
This can include:
-
Working with parents to be creative with what they have
-
Giving parents crafting ideas using typical household items
-
Encouraging parents to do things like yoga, play kickball and other physical activities with their kids
-
Encouraging a healthy diet
