Sponsor a S.A.F.E. House Family
for the Holidays!
S.A.F.E. House’s Healing & Hope Holiday Gift Drive program is a way for us to ensure our shelter residents can enjoy their holidays without the added stress of figuring out how they will provide gifts for their children, and it allows us to make sure they receive a gift, as well.
While caring for our shelter residents during their journeys of safety and overcoming, something we try to instill is the value of self-agency—the confidence that they can make their own choices, influence their thoughts and behaviors and shape their own life stories.
We ask the residents to provide a short, reasonable wish list of items that they would like and things their children would like. We share the lists with community members who want to help.
We only assign a family to one donor, so it's very important that if, for any reason, you cannot fulfill the wish list, you let us know so that we can reassign those families.
DEADLINE / DROP-OFF
We ask that the gifts be unwrapped and delivered to our Thriftique thrift store no later than 5 pm on Friday, December 12th (or any time before is great, too). The address is below.
Please be sure to LABEL them with the following info: HOLIDAY FAMILY SPONSORSHIP / YOUR NAME and our store employees will make sure they are sent over to the shelter in a timely manner.

-
Do we have to buy everything on the list? Absolutely not! The lists are meant to provide options for the donor.
-
Can we provide other household items or non-perishable food items? Absolutely! The families greatly appreciate that as well.
-
Can we meet the families? Unfortunately, we cannot allow that to happen, as we must protect the residents' safety and confidentiality.
-
Is there a guideline on how much money to spend on each family member? There is no suggested amount, only that which is in your heart.
Our Families
Participating in the S.A.F.E. House Holiday Family Sponsors Program (previously Adopt-A-Family) is a wonderful way to help a family who is in the process of getting back on their feet after surviving intimate partner domestic violence! We are working with the families in our housing programs and shelter to obtain lists of items that children and their parent would enjoy for the holiday season.
